Welcome to Hotel Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento, a gem of hospitality nestled in the Gulf of Naples.

Upon entering Hotel Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento, you are greeted with a warm “Welcome home” by the staff. As you walk through the lush pergola leading to Piazza Vittorio, the inner courtyard surrounded by the main building, it’s clear that this place is dedicated to the art of making guests feel like long-time friends. The owner, Elsa Russo, along with her twin daughters Amelia and Adda Attanasio, and General Manager Claudio Napolitano, infuse every action and decision with a passion for sharing the wonders of this unique corner of the world.

The History of a Magical Place

In 1750, the Counts of Mastrobuono built the property as a holiday home. It stands on the site of a villa once inhabited in 6 AD by Agrippa Postumus, the tempestuous eighteen-year-old grandson of Emperor Augustus, who was exiled here to curb his excesses. The young man turned his exile into a haven, developing a love for fishing and the sea. He carved precious nymphaea out of the tufa cliffs, which are still part of the hotel today. Now, Elsa, Amelia, and Adda care for this extraordinary slice of Sorrento with enthusiasm, elegance, and charm.

Despite its central location, the Bellevue Syrene offers guests complete privacy. Considered by many to have the best location on the Sorrentine Peninsula, the hotel allows guests to dive into the vibrant local life, easily access major tourist destinations and the area’s many Michelin-starred restaurants, while also providing moments of peace and relaxation. Breakfast is served on the panoramic terrace of the Villa Pompeiana, where traces of the ancient Roman home are replicated, such as the mosaic floor of the ancient fountain and frescoes accompanied by decorations in style. The magical breakfast is welcomed by maître Gaspare, impeccable in his white jacket, and live piano music each morning.

A Region Full of Wonders to Explore

Guests can choose to explore Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri, Amalfi, Ischia, Positano—all accessible by hydrofoil, train, car, or private boat with crew available upon request. Alternatively, guests can descend to the water’s edge solarium, naturally shielded from prying eyes, before indulging in extraordinary spa treatments.

From 10 am to 6 pm, guests can snack at the Club Lounge, a complimentary service for all guests, designed to make them feel even more at home, located inside the lobby where guests can freely help themselves to fresh food, wines, and drinks. La Pergola restaurant is open for lunch and dinner for those wishing to enjoy dishes from the local tradition. Just a few steps down, the Costiera Bar, with its equally dramatic view, is ready to serve drinks, aperitifs, and cocktails.

A Stay Among Art

The hotel’s most prestigious suite—the Lord Astor, with its 80 square meters, private terrace, and jacuzzi—to the Junior Suites, Deluxe, Superior Comfort, and Classic rooms, the keyword is space. “It was our grandfather who had the insight to reduce the number of rooms to increase square footage. A spacious accommodation makes the experience at Hotel Bellevue Syrene even more luxurious,” says Sales Manager Adda Attanasio. Almost all rooms offer sea views, each with a distinct personality, never identical to the others.

Timeless Elegance

The restaurant La Pergola, with its poetic periwinkle floor, and the immediately below Costiera Bar, enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples and the unmistakable silhouette of Vesuvius. For lunch and dinner, La Pergola offers the classics of Sorrento cuisine reinterpreted in a contemporary key by the chef, accompanied by wines suggested by the sommelier from the hotel’s extensive internal cellar. The focus is on high-quality raw materials and local excellences, bringing to the table the unique flavors of the area’s citrus fruits, vines, olives, and nuts.
