If you’re looking to protect your hair from heat damage or simply lack the tools while traveling, there are numerous ‘no-heat hairstyles’ that you can try. From stylish braids to chic buns, the variety is vast. Here are some of my favorite no-heat hairstyles to inspire your next look!
A tip for no-heat styles—they generally hold better when your hair is slightly “dirtier!”
These styles are perfect for hair that isn’t freshly washed, as they tend to stay put better with a bit of natural oil or some dry shampoo. This can be particularly advantageous when you have limited access to a shower.
Personally, I find that my hair does just fine if I don’t wash it for several days at a stretch. Instead, I rely on Waterl<ss dry shampoo and conditioner to absorb excess oil, keep my hair smelling great with a fragrance mist, and then style it in unique and playful ways!
Let’s explore some of my favorite no-heat hairstyles!
Some Up, Some Down
Half-up, half-down styles are a quick and easy solution for looking put-together. This effortless style can include options like top buns, braids, or ponytails.
Choose your preferred style and enhance it with accessories such as bows, scarves, or hair clips to add a personal touch!
Braids
There’s a whole world of braids to explore, from simple three-strand braids to more complex fishtail or Dutch braids, offering numerous styling options without the need for heat.
Dry shampoo is a game-changer for braids.
Braids usually hold better and look great with a bit of grit and texture spray, especially if you’re aiming for a casual, tousled look. With some texture in your hair, it becomes easier to style it into a relaxed, beachy vibe.
Tip: Master one braid style at a time.
With a Scarf
Scarves in hair are timeless, sported by fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn and Carrie Bradshaw. They can completely transform a look.
And the best part about scarves?
They can be styled in numerous ways, from being woven into braids, wrapped around buns, or simply tied around a ponytail—the possibilities are endless.
Crown
Crown hairstyles are brilliant for making a royal statement. They work well on various hair types and are fantastic for keeping your hair off your face, which is especially useful in humid or wet climates.
There are plenty of tutorials available online if you’re looking to learn.
It might be challenging at first, so beginning with simpler braids and gradually moving to more intricate styles can be a great way to enhance your skills.
Buns
Whether you’re channeling a ’90s vibe with space buns or opting for something sleek like a ballerina bun, there’s no shortage of bun styles to suit your mood and setting. Space buns are particularly great for a fun look at festivals and concerts, while messier styles or braided buns might be more suited for casual or formal events respectively.
Accessorize
Enhancing your hairstyle with accessories is not only a fabulous way to express your style but also a practical approach to extend the time between washes. Experiment with different accessories like hats, bows, barrettes, and scarves to keep your look fresh and exciting.
