A Breathtaking Seaside Villa in the Cyclades
Wild and untouched, a paradise dotted with olive groves and vineyards, Tinos stands apart in the enchanting Greek Cyclades. Though less known, it is dearly loved by celebrities from the worlds of politics, art, and entertainment. Tinos is a gem with unforgettable views and a unique atmosphere. Just a half-hour ferry ride from Mykonos and Syros, the island is renowned primarily as a religious site, thanks to its Church of Panagia Evangelistria, one of the most significant sanctuaries in the archipelago.
The pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary is the most well-known and frequented religious journey among Hellenists and many Christian communities worldwide. Every year, thousands of devotees come to Tinos to receive blessings and grace from the Sacred Icon. In a display of reverence, they crawl on their knees from the port to the church, a journey made somewhat easier by a red carpet laid out to ease their arduous task.
A Villa Overlooking the Aegean Sea
Perched on a rocky promontory on the western coast of Tinos, Enyalos is a seaside villa that blends seamlessly into its surrounding landscape. Its stone walls merge with the terrain, creating an unbreakable bond with the environment. Crossing the threshold, visitors enter a new dimension, an oasis of contemporary comfort where refined design and Mediterranean charm coexist effortlessly. Designed by Alexis Kontodimas, an architect renowned throughout Greece, Enyalos is structured on a single level, divided into a main house and a guest house, both designed to offer relaxation and privacy in an unrivaled scenic setting.
The main building, shaped like a U and facing the sea, is designed with common spaces at the center and bedrooms along the sides. Upon entering, you find yourself in a spacious open-plan area that combines elegance and functionality. To the right is a contemporary kitchen with matte black furniture. At the center, the dining room provides a welcoming environment, while the living room, furnished with designer sofas, a fireplace, and built-in bookshelves, completes the prestigious living area. Details like the dark wooden floor, skylights, integrated lighting, and a natural color palette make the living area both relaxing and sophisticated. A wall of large sliding windows seamlessly connects the indoor and outdoor spaces, offering breathtaking views of the swimming pool and the sea. The sleeping area includes a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and access to side terraces, and two more double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, offering beautiful views and direct access to terraces facing the pool area.
A Touch of Relaxing Authenticity
The guest house, situated on a slightly higher level than the main complex, maintains stylistic coherence with the main residence through its local stone facade, but it is the interior design choices that make it unique. The floors are in glossy gray concrete, while the rough concrete ceilings and white wooden beams create a refined, modern, and welcoming atmosphere. The entrance opens onto a central living room, which leads to a suite with a double bedroom and private bathroom. Just beyond, a second double bedroom offers privileged access to the terraces. The space is completed by a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, and another double bedroom with sea views and direct outdoor access.
The outdoor areas harmoniously blend with the furnishings, extending the living space through shaded terraces that directly overlook the sea. In the main house, there is a welcoming outdoor living area and a dining area with a kitchen, perfect for parties and convivial dinners with views of the Aegean. At the center, the infinity pool stretches towards the horizon, creating a spectacular chromatic union with the crystal-clear waters of the sea.
Equally well-cared for, the guest house features a terrace with a living area and dining area, an outdoor kitchen, and a private courtyard, ideal for moments of privacy and intimacy. Between the two structures, in the gardens, Mediterranean plants and intentionally natural corners add a touch of relaxing authenticity to this wonderful seaside villa, a true highlight of The Thinking Traveller’s luxury offerings.
