Moreover, the FDA has issued a recall for cucumbers following a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened over twenty people and led to nine hospitalizations.
Individuals affected by the outbreak are spread across multiple states including California, Missouri, Georgia, Minnesota, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Washington. Health officials note that the actual number of affected individuals may be higher due to the time it typically takes to connect illnesses to a specific outbreak.
“Metabolic Meals has been cooperating with health officials and has directly contacted customers who purchased the implicated meals to inform them of the outbreak,” the CDC stated.
Consumers who have consumed the affected meals are urged to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as persistent diarrhea, a fever exceeding 102°F, bloody diarrhea, excessive vomiting, or signs of dehydration.
Symptoms of Salmonella infection generally appear between six hours and six days after exposure to the bacteria.
The incident occurs shortly after a similar issue where a Turkish product, Spread Pistachio Cacao Cream with Kadayif, was recalled by World Market and the FDA on July 14 due to potential Salmonella contamination.
