Cici Edmunds, the spouse of rock artist Dave Edmunds, recently updated the public about her husband’s health after he experienced a cardiac arrest, confirming his survival and ongoing recovery.
Cici reposted a message from Carlene Carter on Facebook, expressing gratitude for the positive news regarding her husband’s remarkable recovery.
“Thank you, dear sweet Carlene for spreading the good news about my wonderful husband’s miraculous recovery. Much love and light to you always. Cici Edmunds,” she commented in her repost on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
“Dave is expected to fully recover and should be leaving the hospital soon!” was the hopeful message in Carter’s original post, accompanied by an old photo of her performing with Edmunds, now 81. “Some really great news we all have been waiting for…” added Carter, aged 69.
In 1980, Carter and Dave released a duet titled “Ride Easy Baby.”

After suffering a severe cardiac arrest in late July, Cici Edmunds initially announced on Facebook that her husband had a significant health scare.
During this episode, Cici recounted the terrifying moment, saying, “Dave died in my arms” before being resuscitated by a nurse through intensive CPR. She mentioned suffering from shock and possible PTSD from the ordeal.
Following the incident, Dave was rushed to an ICU and placed on a ventilator, as detailed by Cici. She noted he exhibited signs of brain damage and significant memory loss among other complications.
“Dave faces a long road to recovery if he pulls through. We both do. But knowing that kind people like you all are with us makes this tough journey a bit more bearable,” Cici shared, extending her gratitude and well-wishes to everyone.
The Mayo Clinic describes sudden cardiac arrest as an abrupt loss of heart function due to an irregular heartbeat, which can result in brain damage and is potentially fatal.
Dave Edmunds was born on April 15, 1944, in Cardiff, Wales. He played in various bands during his youth and gained prominence with the blues rock band Love Sculpture in the 1960s. After recording two albums, the band disbanded in 1970.
His solo career kicked off in 1972 with the album “Rockpile,” featuring covers of classics from the 1950s and 1960s like Dave Bartholomew’s “I Hear You Knocking” and Bob Dylan’s “Outlaw Blues.”
His cover of Bartholomew’s song topped the U.K. charts for six weeks, as reported by the Official Charts.
Latterly, Edmunds formed the band Rockpile with Nick Lowe, Billy Bremner, and Terry Williams, releasing “Seconds of Pleasure” in 1980, which included the hit “Teacher, Teacher.”
In 2015, Edmunds released the instrumental album “On Guitar Dave Edmunds: Rags & Classics.” Two years later, his friend and collaborator Brian Setzer announced via Facebook that Edmunds had retired.
