Product Recall Notification for TikTok Shop Users
Consumers who have shopped on TikTok Shop are being alerted about a product recall concerning a specific electrical device that poses a significant risk of electric shock. The product in question is the Jia Le Xin Hub, equipped with three outlets and six USB ports. Users are advised to discontinue use immediately due to the safety concerns identified.
Details of the Recalled Product
The Jia Le Xin Hub, designed for multiple device connections, features three plug sockets and six USB ports. The product, which has been available for purchase through TikTok, carries the barcode 6952640500010 and is identified by the product number F001U. Originating from China, this black USB hub is now recognized as a hazardous item due to design flaws that jeopardize user safety.
The product has been found to violate safety regulations, specifically falling short of the standards set by the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 and the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. Due to these violations, the product has been withdrawn from the marketplace, and TikTok has removed the listing from its platform.
Immediate Actions and Warnings
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has classified this product as presenting a “serious risk of electric shock.” The exact number of units sold before the recall and whether there have been any reported incidents or injuries was not detailed by the OPSS. Nonetheless, the recall underscores the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and responding swiftly when a product is found to be unsafe.
This incident serves as a reminder for consumers, especially the 22.7 million TikTok users in the UK as reported by the World Population Review for 2024, to regularly check for updates on product recalls. Ensuring the safety of electrical appliances within the home is crucial to prevent potential hazards.
Additional Safety Concerns and Recalls
This is not an isolated incident in terms of product safety concerns. Recently, there has been a notification about an urgent food recall by Morrisons due to a meat product potentially contaminated with plastic. Furthermore, a popular model of air fryers sold in the UK was flagged for posing a fire risk, leading to a recall from multiple retailers including Tesco, Argos, and B&M Bargains among others.
As consumer safety continues to be a priority, it is essential for shoppers to stay informed about the products they use and to heed safety warnings and recall notices promptly.
