Robin Wright has found a new place to call home in England and is very content with her life change.

In an interview released by The Sunday Times on Sunday, August 31, Wright, aged 59, revealed that she and her boyfriend, architect Henry Smith, are now leasing a property on the English coast.

“It’s liberating to be done,” Wright shared with the publication. “To stop the constant searching, looking, and settling for 60 percent of what you want.”

Raised in Texas and California, Wright was forthright about her desire to leave the U.S., criticizing the country’s current state.

“I love being in this country,” she said of England. “There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They aren’t stuck in their cars, stressed on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s about rush, competition, and speed.”

According to the Forrest Gump star, the decision to relocate was also influenced by the constant noise in Los Angeles.

“Everyone’s building a huge house, and I’m just done with all that—I love the quiet. And I’ve met my person. Finally,” she added, referring to her relationship with 52-year-old Smith.

Wright recalled her first encounter with her now-boyfriend, which started with a humorous misunderstanding in a pub over who owned a dog.

“He goes, ‘No, it’s not my dog, it’s his dog,’ ” she recollected about their initial interaction.

“Henry was standing at the bar, 6’2″, and he put his pint down, came over to me and grabbed my shoulders,” Wright recounted. “He goes, ‘Who the f— are you?’ And I said, ‘Who the f— are you?’ And that was it.”

“He is a sweetheart and just a good, decent adult. He’s a man,” she continued, speaking fondly of Smith.

According to The Sunday Times, Wright felt “so relaxing” to be “seen and loved for who I am” after starting her relationship with Smith.

“That’s exactly what I wanted,” she shared. “I’m turning 60 and I’m, like, ‘Is this it?’ I love being alone and I’ve done that many times. But I’m, like, ‘I want to grow old with somebody, and travel and see the world.’ “

The Princess Bride actress was previously married to Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010, with whom she shares two children: daughter Dylan, 34, and son Hopper, 32. Wright later married Clement Giraudet in 2018, but filed for divorce from the fashion executive in the summer of 2022, citing irreconcilable differences. She also had a brief marriage to the late Santa Barbara actor Dane Witherspoon from 1986 until their divorce two years later.
