An Unforgettable Mother’s Day for Mia Farrow

Mia Farrow is preparing for a Mother’s Day that’s sure to be memorable. Speaking with PEOPLE during the 2025 Tony Awards media event on Thursday, May 8, the 80-year-old actress shared her expectations for the upcoming holiday.

“Oh, my kids are coming over. Not all of them, but most. Or at least some of them and the grandchildren. And I don’t really know,” she disclosed. “I know Ronan [Farrow] is coming from New York, but beyond that, it’s up in the air. Hopefully, they’ll either bring some dishes or we’ll go out to eat.”

Mia Farrow has been a mother to 14 children, including three who have tragically passed away—Tam in 2000, Lark in 2008, and Thaddeus in 2016.

Mia Farrow’s Celebrated Tony Nomination

PEOPLE caught up with Farrow following her recent nomination for a 2025 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play. She earned this prestigious nod for her role in the Broadway play The Roommate.

Farrow finds herself in esteemed company, competing against Laura Donnelly in The Hills of California, LaTanya Richardson Jackson in Purpose, Sadie Sink in John Proctor Is the Villain, and Sarah Snook in The Picture of Dorian Gray.

When discussing what the nomination means to her, Farrow reflected on her mother, Maureen O’Sullivan. “It’s incredibly touching, and it’s very personal. I was so surprised that I actually burst into tears. I really wish my mother could be here to see this; she would have been overjoyed and so proud,” she expressed.

Upon receiving her nomination, Farrow told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement, “I burst into tears. I wish my mom were here – she would have been so proud. The gratitude I feel being among these nominees is overwhelming; this community is truly the best. I’m still in disbelief, constantly saying, ‘oh my God, oh my God, oh my God’.”

Mia Farrow also mentioned her deep connection with her late mother, Maureen O’Sullivan, who passed away in 1998 at the age of 87. “I loved her immensely and I carry her memory with me always. I feel like I have a way of communicating with her, sharing my life’s best moments with her spirit. I believe in some form of afterlife where our loved ones continue to exist, and I feel her presence with me,” she shared.

The 78th Tony Awards, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 8.
