Jenna Ortega has delved into historical fashion treasures for her latest appearance.

At the global debut of Hurry Up Tomorrow in New York on Tuesday, May 13, the Wednesday actress showcased a vintage Christian Dior piece once donned by New York City’s beloved Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City.

Ortega, aged 22 and recently named a fashion house ambassador in 2023, made a striking entrance in the iconic newspaper print dress. This particular design was first introduced during the Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2000 collection at Paris Fashion Week under John Galliano’s creative direction, as per L’Officiel USA.

The dress comes in two distinct styles. One is a longer gown showcased during the Paris Fashion Week event. The other, which has become more recognized by the public, is a snug midi-length version that was worn by Carrie and has now been reprised by Ortega.

Diverging from the SATC protagonist’s style, Ortega chose to accessorize with gold open-toe heels and a matching gold pendant necklace that complemented the dress’s gold accents.

Aligning her makeup with the dress’s color scheme, the Scream star opted for a deep smoky eye enhanced with gold eyeshadow. Unlike Carrie’s signature wavy blonde hairstyle, Ortega sported a sleek, straight blowout.

Carrie originally wore the dress in the episode titled “What Goes Around Comes Around” during the third season of Sex and the City, which aired in October 2000. She paired it with her trademark gold nameplate necklace. Sarah Jessica Parker revived the outfit for the 2010 movie Sex and the City 2, styling it with Christian Louboutin Bridget Strass peep-toe booties and a white feather clutch.

Since Carrie’s iconic New York City stroll, several celebrities have been spotted in outfits inspired by this memorable look.

In April 2023, Emily Ratajkowski was seen wearing Miaou’s “Karina” dress, a halterneck garment that mimicked the newspaper print, but was actually adorned with black and white “Signal Ahead” street signs, according to Cosmopolitan.

In July 2023, Ashley Graham stepped out in a Clio Peppiatt Vic minidress. This piece featured a beaded newspaper print in hues of blue, silver, and black, with additional Swarovski embellishments around the neckline as reported by Women’s Wear Daily.

The film Hurry Up Tomorrow is set to hit theaters on Friday, May 16.
