5 favorite things.

I receive about 40 emails a day asking various questions, not always about food or exercise.  I thought it would be fun to share a bit more about myself and things I love with a random post of 5 favorite things.  Items I love, websites, blogs, clothing, books etc.  This is my very first installment.  I hope you enjoy!

In no particular order, first I’ll begin with Stitch Fix.  This company is a fun twist on clothes shopping.  You sign-up, answer several style and size questions.  They show you images of clothing and gauge your style by your choices. Their stylists then send you a box of 5 goodies.  Clothing, accessories etc. and you keep what you love (price point is something you identify in your questionnaire) and send back (free of charge) the item or items you don’t wish to keep.  It’s that easy.  I have to admit, I’ve received one box and the excitement was palpable.  My daughter promptly signed up and just received her box yesterday.  She ended up keeping all 5 pieces – a cute red/cream striped tee with great button details on the sleeve, a delicate elephant and tree necklace, star skinny jeans, an edgy denim/sheer collared shirt that will be darling with skinny jeans and a pink adorable peplum tee.  If you keep all 5 pieces – they give you an extra 25% off too!  Plus she received a discount because I referred her.  I love it the most because they are unique pieces from up-and-coming designers so you don’t see yourself coming and going everywhere like you do with major brands.  I posted the link to them if you would like to check it out.

I’ve been so crazy with swim season and being on the Board that I haven’t had a lot of free time to read but I’m finally making some headway on Sophie Kinsella’s latest book Wedding Night.  I’ve been a long-time fan of her books.  Perfect summer read!

EOS mint organic lip balm (funny it matches my mani).  I keep one pretty much everywhere I go.  My desk, my purse, my car…they’re everywhere and I’m constantly using it.  Perfect lip balm especially in the summer when I could be bothered with makeup.

I included a pic of my daughter’s sweet necklace she got in her Stitch Fix box yesterday.  I love it and may be borrowing it shortly!

New gym kicks!  I read a lot about fitness.  One thing I was doing wrong was wearing my old running sneakers (anything with more than 300-400 miles on them) to the gym.  I’ve learned that you should be wearing more of a minimalist sneaker to lift weights to help with strengthening your balance.  I need help with balance without a doubt.  I’ve really enjoyed wearing my Nike Free 5.0’s (my last two pair) but really needed a new pair.  Received a 25% off coupon and headed to the store to pick up these new kicks.  Love them.

That’s it from here.  Off to get a shower and get ready for our All Leagues Championship meet tonight and tomorrow morning.
